Every month, social networks bring much news to keep the attention of existing users while attracting new ones. Join us to look at the most exciting updates and news introduced during February.

Checking political content on Instagram and Threads

Meta constantly strives to make Instagram and Threads provide the best user experience. Therefore, they have decided not to recommend content about politics proactively.

However, if you follow accounts that post political content, they will be shown as before. Meta says it doesn’t want to get between you and political posts, but it doesn’t recommend political content from accounts you don’t follow proactively.

This option will also be available on Facebook later, giving users more control over the content they see.

Social Media Network Instagram is testing a hashtag limit-setting

Instagram is introducing new limits on how many hashtags users can insert into their posts. Currently, a maximum of five hashtags are allowed.

This information was revealed by Instagram expert Jenn Herman, whose post was subsequently shared by Matt Navarra. When trying to add more than five hashtags to a post, users will receive a warning that will not allow them to add additional hashtags.

The main goal is to reduce spam accounts that target popular topics by mass-using popular hashtags. However, users have found a way around this restriction by, for example, adding hashtags to the first comment under a post.

Saving posts to Threads

The Threads app has recently introduced a new feature for all its users that allows you to save posts for later viewing. This feature, labeled “Save“, will enable users to tag their favorite posts in the app so they can quickly return to them.

The “Save” option is available in Threads via a menu with three dots on any post in the latest version of the app. Once saved, you can find the post in the profile menu section, similar to how accessing saved posts works on Instagram.

This feature will display all posts and stories on a map tagged with a location, giving an overview of where users are and where they’ve been. In addition, it will be possible to view current locations and past visits depending on the user’s settings. However, users can choose which of their friends will see this map.

There are also plans to add a unique Notes feature that will allow users to leave comments at various locations on the map. This could encourage more interaction between friends and encourage them to visit new places.
