CTA, or Call to Action, is an English term for an advertising element whose purpose is to trigger an action. It is used to prompt a potential customer to click a button or take another step leading to the purchase, order, or reservation of a service or product.

A call to action is a key part of online marketing, as all campaigns, advertising tools, and content formats should lead to the desired user action. The call to action is often implemented through a visible CTA button that clearly guides the visitor to the next step.

CTA elements are commonly used on websites, in banners, email marketing, articles, or apps. An effective CTA must be clearly visible, concise, and persuasive. It usually contains simple but powerful expressions that encourage activity, such as “Learn more,” “Order now,” “Sign up,” “Book a spot,” or “Contact us.”

The purpose of a CTA is not only to motivate but also to make the user’s journey to the goal easier. CTA buttons often link to product subpages, services, registration forms, or portfolios. By doing so, they remove barriers in the decision-making process and reduce the number of steps a customer must take to complete the action. Properly placed and worded CTAs significantly influence the conversion rate of a website or campaign.
